Every member of the animal kingdom has a great ability.
This ability is defined as Communication. In today’s extensively wired World,
humans (being the most evolved species of the animal kingdom) have christened
Communication as a part of requisite skill sets and it is considered paramount
to possess good Communication skills to achieve personal and professional
excellence. Many a humans gain greater advantages because of their
communication skills and some end up in disasters as their communication skills
get obscured due to various ancillary factors and reasons. Mostly, it is the
complexity of the human mind which either eases out the skill of communication
or entwines it into loops and knots. Eventually, communication takes on the
role of a seed as the human spreads out his domain and moves far and wide into
the complex world.
Unlike animals, plants are limited in their ability to
seek out favorable conditions for life and growth. As a result, plants have
evolved many ways to disperse their offspring by
dispersing their seeds. A seed must somehow "arrive" at a location and be there at a time favorable for
germination and growth. When the fruits open and release their seeds in a
regular way, it is called dehiscent, which is often
distinctive for related groups of plants; these fruits include capsules,
follicles, legumes, silicles and siliques. When fruits do not open and release
their seeds in a regular fashion, they are called indehiscent, which include
the fruits achenes, caryopsis, nuts, samaras, and utricles. Wind, water and
animals help in the dispersal of seeds and utilizing these means, the plants
spread far and wide to establish their existence. Seeds form a huge part of the
Communication skill of the plants.
Humans also need to spread the seeds of their
communication skills far and wide to justify their existence. This skill has to
be positive in nature to move smoothly through the maze called life. A rough
skill can lead to a rough life and bruises all along. Many an information is
easily accessible to humans with good communication skills and this leads to
greater advantages as they surge along faster than their counterparts. There
are glowing examples of humans in various organisations who are diligent and
hard workers but their communication skills do not help them to gain higher
grounds. After all, hard work easily gets muffled as a regulatory feature of a
human’s professional life and poor communication skill does not let him reach
the correct echelon where hard work gets notified. On the other hand, many a
humans utilise their communication skills to achieve maximum bang for minimal
energy spent on hard work. They use linkages, connections and smooth
communication skills to wind their way up the ladder of success much ahead of
their silent counterparts. In the end, organizations are ruled by great
communicators and they may always not be the most talented when they started
their professional journeys with their counterparts.
The net outcome are the issues which keep on cropping up
from time to time and keep the organizations entwined in jargons and clean-up
operations. The legacy of good communicators who climb up the ladder through
connections and linkages is not easy to wipe away. The succession chains are
created to benefit proteges and the organisation never recovers from damages
caused due to weaning away of forcefully burnt out talents. The “not so skilled” communicators move away
into oblivion and never get their due recognition. The rewards are uneven in
every organisation as very few leaders try to recognize the core capability of
humans under them. Many a seeds just fall down under the tree where they are
born and wither away as there are no means available to carry them to their
germination destination. They might be the best but their inability to
communicate and hinge onto the carrying medium leads to a premature end.
A good organisation and its top leadership have an
onerous task. Many a seeds come their way as the organisation is trying to
build up the ever vibrant demand of growth. The seed cannot be broken to look
inside its contents. The seed has to be planted in a favourable environment and
given an opportunity to grow into a big tree itself. The identification of the
level of communication skills and other talents of a human is an onerous task.
Today, the world is developing smarter techniques to identify the overall skill
sets of potential employees. Psychological analytics tries to analyse the
potential skills of future employees. In spite of many an elaborate technique utilized, organisations do end up employing dead weights. This leads to botched
up operations and re-designing of the wheel continues. The overall cost to
operations keeps on increasing and the organizations continue to reel under the
pressures of identifying correct humans.
It is important to map humans correctly as they come up
in their professional lives. Each one has unique skills and a very unique
Communication prowess. The most diligent and hard workers need to be identified
correctly. They may not be great communicators but that should not go against
their capability. The top leadership must continuously evolve mechanisms to
review the correct performance. The organisations with dynamism would continue
to achieve vibrant growth. This only happens where correct dynamism is
identified and nurtured. Sycophancy is the bane of growth and dynamism of organizations. Organizations cannot simply let go good seeds without giving
them a chance and equal opportunity to germinate. It would be most appropriate
to identify correctly and let the best people come out to grow organisations.
The most favored seed may not germinate to become a full blown tree just with
its linkages and legacy. A new variant might be just around to take the
organisation to a newer horizon.
